Human resources startups have found opportunities to help companies make more assertive decisions. This Monday, 6, hrtech Mereo announced the acquisition of Vaipe, aiming to accelerate the use of data in its performance management platform and impact over one million professionals. The transaction amounts were not disclosed.
Present in 40 countries and focused on large companies, Mereo offers solutions in three pillars: performance management, consolidating strategic indicators from each area and dealing with deviations; talent management, evaluating the performance of employees according to competencies and carrying out the organizations’ succession process; recognition and reward, which calculates the variable remuneration of each employee based on results achieved. Companies such as Raia Drogasil, Sinqia, Track.co, Burger King, Magazine Luiza, Banco Inter, and Klabin are part of the client portfolio.
The mining hrtech created in 2012 received R$5 million in funding from KPTL and Cedro Capital last year. Partners Athila Machado, Ivan Cruz, and Marconi Rocha, decided to invest in a strategic point often requested by clients: digital surveys and employee engagement.
Established in 2017, Vaipe has a well-structured People Analytics solution. HR and leaders receive, in real time, the results of anonymous digital surveys conducted with employees, which ensures more assertive decision making, as well as identifying best practices, which generates a more engaged team.
The two companies are among the ten hrtechs most desired by large companies in Brazil, according to the 100 Open Startups 2021 ranking.
“The acquisition of Vaipe represents a great fusion of expertise of two of the largest HR companies in Brazil. If on one hand we already dominated the people performance management process, on the other Vaipe comes to complement it, as it accelerates the use of data and artificial intelligence in leadership decision making,” says Ivan Cruz, co-founder of Mereo.
Another highlight is the large database created after the acquisition. The use of data and artificial intelligence in HR allows the identification of behavior patterns of people, teams, and the direction of actions to be taken by the leadership in companies.
“With the union of the solutions and the data generated, complex questions, such as what profile of person generates most value for the company, or what are the most appropriate development paths for each person in the company, receive solid answers,” says Adriana Barbosa, CEO of Vaipe, who is now a partner at Mereo and acts as Head of Data.
After the acquisition, Vaipe’s 30 employees will become part of the Mereo team. By the end of the year, Vaipe’s trademark digital employee survey will be attached as a module to Mereo’s platform. The expectation is to double the number of customers, impacting about 1 million professionals in more than 10 million customer interactions.
