Escola em Movimento, a startup of a digital platform for communication between schools and students, received a R$ 2 million (US$ 1.9 million) investment from Cedro Capital, an investment management company. This is the third investor contribution since 2013, when the platform was created.

The company serves about 450 private schools that, together, have 260,000 students. Among them are schools such as São Luiz, Pentágono, COC, Sagrado Coração de Jesus, and Maple Bear. With the funding, the company plans to double the number of students using its system by the beginning of next year.

The platform shares information such as school announcements, homework, children and babies’ routines, attendance and absence records, teaching content, and photos, among others.

“Paper agendas were used for a long time. But there was a natural limitation in communication. With the use of technology, the school creates a new communication channel with the family,” says Leonardo Silva, one of the founders of Escola em Movimento.

“With the technology developed, schools can reduce costs with paper and phone calls, but mainly make communication with parents and students much simpler and more effective,” says Guilherme Rocha Ribeiro, president and cofounder of the company.
